The National Sustainability Coalition is a nonprofit outreach initiative designed to connect small enterprise with technical resources and expand awareness of sustainable development necessary for business survival in a changing economy. The intent is to implement an exciting training and certification program that focuses on achieving three major competencies – knowledge, skills and ability – necessary for long-term small business sustainability.
The Coalition operates as part of a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization dedicated to improving the quality of life through technology and training. The project includes sustainability e-learning curriculum, webinars featuring subject matter experts, a hands-on virtual workshop to assist in the creation of a sustainability planning document, and a third-party certification process to ensure the functionality of sustainability practices. Working in partnership with major corporations, state and local governments, academia and community organizations, the Coalition intends to create awareness of tools, resources and financial assistance available to develop and grow millions of sustainable small businesses across the nation.
Dr. Calvin L. Green, Jr., an environmental engineer/scientist with Procter & Gamble serves as chairperson of the Coalition’s Executive Committee. He is joined by a distinguished group of professionals from business, education and government dedicated to promoting sustainability in small business communities across America.
The National Sustainability Coalition aims to reward and recognize small and medium-size businesses that are improving their environmental stewardship and contributing to a better quality of life in their communities.
